Gravier

I'm in a band that recently started up. We are called Gravier and we are from Wollongong, NSW, Australia. We are a trio at the moment because we only have three people. Presently we have two guitarists (myself and my friend) and a drummer (another friend). The other guitarist said he might play bass if we needed him to. That would make us a proper trio with drums, bass, guitar and vocals. We aren't the best of singers but we will get better.
Our styles are quite different. Our drummer and other guitarist listened to the Beatles, U2 and the Eagles (that kind of music) whereas I listened to Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Mayer, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix and am greatly influenced by them in the order that they appear. However, we work well together and do our best to make what we play work.
What sort of band are you in? It would be interesting to know what bands are out there (even if we are from different countries).

The biggest band I played in was called Closure. We were a top 40 rock cover/original (but mostly cover) band and averaged around fifteen shows a month playing all around Texas. At the height of our playing days we were actually sponsered by Budweiser, had offers on the table from Miller and were in the VERY early stages of negotiations with peavey (by that I mean that they had contacted us and told us what they wanted to see and we were still in the process of doing all of those when I left)
It was fun but hard. For all of you out there that want to perform for a living take it from me, the best way to test your love of music is to do it in that kind of capacity. I'm sure it would be great to tour the world and play packed stadiums every couple of days and make millions, but spend a year or so playing bars almost EVERY night, loading up P.A. half drunk at 3 in the morning just to drive somewhere else. Don't get me wrong, I'll always remember those days fondly and heck, I might do it again sometime but make no mistake "rockin aint no walk in the park"
